Premium Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Code: D007-0012-00

Coconut oil has received negative publicity in the past because it contains saturated fat.

In fact coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat known to man, with almost 90% of the fatty acids in it being saturated.

However coconut oil does not contain your average run of the mill saturated fats like what you find in cheese or processed meats.

No, they contain medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which are fatty acids of medium length.

Most of the fatty acids in a regular person’s diet are long chain fatty acids, but the MCTs in coconut oil are metabolized differently.

They go straight to the liver from the digestive tract where they are used as a quick source of energy or turned into so called ketone bodies, which can have therapeutic effects on brain disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease.

The MCTs in coconut oil can increase blood concentration of ketone bodies, which can help reduce seizures in children with epilepsy.

Coconut oil can function as a sunscreen, protect hair against damage and improve skin moisture.

It can also be used as a mouth wash in a process known as oil pulling, which reduces harmful bacteria in the mouth and reduces bad breath.

Oil pulling is effective for treatment of throat infections and cough.

The MCTs which are metabolized into ketone bodies in the liver can supply an alternative energy source for malfunctioning brain cells which are no longer able to utilize glucose for energy.

i use this for cooking - for those who do not like the smell of coconut in your food, it's not too overpowering at all. it has a very subtle coconut-ty taste in my dishes
