Bringing nutritious New Zealand wholegrain oats to the fore, these hearty oatcakes are a versatile all-rounder in the pantry.
A true superfood, oats are a significant source of vitamin B1, minerals (manganese, magnesium and zinc) and both soluble and insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre is known as beta-glucan, which helps to lower levels of bad cholesterol and also controls the release of sugars into the bloodstream. Oats also release energy slowly, making you feel fuller for longer.
Our oatcake and oat biscuit recipes are wheat free but as they contain oats they’re not gluten free as all oats contain gluten in the form of avenin. Avenin is slightly different from other gluten proteins and only 1 in 5 coeliacs react to this protein.
